Commenting on her appointment, Rebecca Pow MP said:

"I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been given the opportunity to once again be part of the top team at DEFRA serving in Prime Minister, Rishi Sunaks’ Government as the Environment Quality and Resilience Minister.

We have done more than any Government ever on the environment so far but there is much more to do. Included in my portfolio is water, flooding, air quality, chemicals and the significant waste and recycling agenda which will move us to a more circular economy where we reduce waste, recycle and re-use more. In respect of water, I’ll be working closely with our farming community and water companies to both clean up our water but also ensure we have secure food supplies."
